Current mood: crazy

I can't sleep at the moment...so I will ask you all a question. If I still had a paid account, I would make this an LJ-poll, but this will have to do.

For those of you with a live-in boyfriend/girlfriend or spouse, how do the two of you sleep? Cuddled up to each other? Opposite sides of the bed? Different beds? Do you have one set of covers for the both of you, or two sets, one for each person? How large is your shared bed? Tell me everything, for I am curious!

In fact, I want to know how you sleep even if you do so alone. Does it have to be twenty degrees in the room? Do you curl up with something special in your arms every night? Are you so gauche that you still wear PJ's, which is so last year? Tell me! I demand to know everything!

Well, [info]takaza and I have slept together for the last nine years. I can't sleep with anyone touching me, so we need a king bed; each of us keeps to our own side. Blankets are interesting - Takaza is a damn furnace, while I'm a heat sink. I like my sheets tucked in at the bottom of the bed and he can't stand that, so in the winter you get things like the sheet is only tucked in on my side, along with a blanket that's half on my side and half on the floor, then a comforter covering both sides of the bed. There's the usual occasional tug-of-war for the shared bedding, but usually it's not a big deal.

The funny thing is that even with our wildly diverse preferences, neither of us sleep very well if we're not sharing the bed with the other. It's what you get used to, I suppose.

Well Sprout and I sleep in the same bed and typically right next to each other but because I toss and turn at night and we both like to hog the covers we each have our own blankets. Typically we touch back to back or close but that's about it. But like duncan said I won't sleep very comfortably without him there (although he does seem to enjoy having a bed to himself every so often).

I cuddle an enormous plush lamb. Room is cold, but not by choice. ^^

Well, [info]moiracoon and I sleep in the same bed. We have assigned sides; even though I kind of like changing once in a while, she doesn't. That's ok; it means I always get to have the wall to one side, which I kind of like too. It's a king, so we do have a good amount of room.

I do a lot of changing position before I get to sleep. Maybe that's 'cause she can drop off in minutes, whereas I'm up for half an hour to forty-five minutes as my brain processes various things from the day.

Lately, I've been going to bed after her. That usually wakes her up a little bit and I nestle up against her, my front to her back (she has trouble with my breathing on her face when we're front to front) and stay that way for five or ten minutes, or maybe a little longer. I'll eventually have to roll onto my back though because some part of my body, an arm or a shoulder maybe, gets uncomfortable. So, I'll lie on my back, usually with my right foot touching her left foot, and spread the rest of my out across my side of the bed, though I'll sometimes spend a while nestled against her back-to-back too.

We have five blankets on the bed most nights. A flannel sheet that matches the fitted sheet on the mattress is the first layer. Then we have three thick furry blankets; the soft and fuzzy animal print ones that you see at flea markets all the time. And Andrea has a blanket of her own that [info]mocha_mephooki gave her. I don't like that one; the texture is weird to me, so it stays on her side. Occasionally, ok, frequently, we're too lazy to make the bed at the end of the day (because it will still be tousled from having been slept in the night before) and just kind of dig ourselves under whatever happens to be there. Oddly, even if it's very warm, I have to be under at least one blanket or I can't sleep. I feel weirdly exposed when I'm not covered up. Sometimes I stick one foot or leg out of the blankets, but even that starts to bother me sometimes. I do not know why this is; it just makes me nervous. My brain is broken.

When [info]moiracoon isn't around to snuggle with, I have a Meeko plushie that I put my arms around so I don't feel quite so alone. I have a hard time sleeping by myself these days; it just seems weird.

As for clothing, I almost always sleep nude. Usially if I have any clothes on at all, it means that I was too exhausted to take them off before falling asleep. I'm not sure if I should comment on my sweetie's habits in that department; I'll let her do that.

We both need to have a fan, or some device that makes white noise, running to sleep. We can't sleep well at all in total silence. My parents are the same way; maybe it's inherited.

I am the same with needing a blanket over me to sleep in whatever weather, and also do the feet out thing. It's a tactile-fear thing. If I can't feel the blanket, then maybe there's nothing there and therefore something might attack me, so goes my unconscious mind's thought.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has that weird anxiety about being uncovered. *grins*

that is weird, I do the same thing...can't stand to have my feet stick out, even though I like the coolness on my feet I don't like the exposure.

So is this what you when you get up 2 hours earlier than me :P
Guess I can answer this teehee.
On nights that I am blessed with having Benjie over we "manage" in my tiny full size bed. There are times at night where we will snuggle which is nice, but at the same time I like just having him close without our arms wrapped around each other. As for blankets, well I have 2 blankets so we each take one. We both like sleeping with blankets in every weather which will work out nicely in the warmer months when I have the AC going.
As I said though, we manage on my little bed, and luckily once we get our new place in the beginning of September we will be getting a larger bed that will bring us far beyond "managing"

Wuf and I have our own sides of the bed (queen); those positions never change. Wuf left, me right and Chaos where he can fit his big ass (typically at the foot of the bed).

More times than not he spoons me with his arm over, plush in his free hand, plush in mine.

We are gay as fuck :/

When I sleep, I usually sleep still and on my back. Sometimes on my belly with my arms around my pillow. I like the room to be cold, because I like having a heavy layer of covers over top me. I love sharing my bed and getting to cuddle up with somebody else, though it rarely happens, so more often than not I end up just sleeping right in the middle of my bed.

As for what I wear... it varies. Rarely a shirt when I sleep alone, but almost always a shirt when I have somebody else to cuddle up with. I tend not to favor direct skin-to-skin contact, because I don't like the buildup of heat, which inevitably leads to sweating. I usually wear undies of some sort... sometimes my pajama pants, socks only if it's a little too chilly in my room. And by that, I mean less than 50F.

I always sleep on my side, and I tend to alternate sides each night. I currently sleep alone, but I can't sleep without hugging something, so I have a few plushies to sleep with.

When Fox and I were together, I always wanted to sleep snuggly, but he didn't, so we ended up mostly on opposite sides of the bed :-\

And, both my bed and his were queens, and I usually just sleep in my underwear.

alternate sides each night? consciously or does it just happen that way?

Generally, Ammon and I cuddle for a while, then actually sleep sleep on separate sides (Ammon on the right). One set of covers, queen size bed. Sometimes we are joined by Caetano, who tends to wander around, and/or Bebel, who plants herself at our feet. Also, Ammon works graveyards, so the actual time we sleep together tends to be fairly limited.

With regard to attire, usually t-shirt and long underwear; if it's cold, or I'm feeling particularly cubby, I break out the pjs, and when it gets hot, generally au natural, or in just underwear.

well...*blushes* I only wear PJs when I have company around, but mostly I sleep stretched out, on my right side, cuddeling a padded teddybear, in just padding and sometimes a tshirt, but often nude.
